How Does the Spider Control Process Work?

It can be tempting to grab a can of spray at the store and chase them down one by one, but that only handles the spiders you can see. It does nothing to stop the ones hiding in your walls, attic, or crawlspaces. The bottom line is you should call us if you feel uncomfortable or when DIY efforts aren’t keeping up with the problem.

Reach out to us if you notice:

  • Webs reappearing faster than you can clean them: If you clear a corner and a new web is back in a few days, you have an active resident.
  • Silken egg sacs in dark corners: A single egg sac can hatch hundreds of spiderlings.
  • An influx of other insects: Spiders go where the food is. If you have a spider problem, you likely have an underlying pest problem (like flies, moths, or roaches) drawing them in.
  • Sightings of venomous species: If you spot Black Widows, DIY isn’t worth the risk. You need professional, targeted elimination immediately.

Central Florida Spider Control FAQs

What attracts spiders into my home?

Spiders are drawn indoors to residential and commercial properties for a few reasons:

  • They find appeal in dark and cluttered spaces, which are common in storage areas or neglected corners.
  • Properties with a consistent supply of insects become attractive hunting grounds for spiders in search of prey.
  • Poorly sealed entry points, such as gaps around windows and doors, provide spiders with an effortless way to infiltrate both homes and businesses.
  • The warmth and shelter provided indoors, combined with potential food sources, make these spaces enticing to spiders.

Yes, there are potentially two venomous spider species of note that can be found in Central Florida.

  • Black widows: Large, shiny, and with a characteristic red marking on their backs, black widow venom can cause severe distress and discomfort. Elderly people, children, and pets are especially at risk. Black widows are common in homes in our area, but the spiders themselves are not aggressive. They are unlikely to bite unless you try to handle one or one wanders into your clothing accidentally.
  • Brown recluses: Brown recluses are somewhat rare in Florida. They’re not endemic to the region, but they have been discovered in isolated instances. They are not a big risk, but if found in your house, their bites can cause severe pain and distress, even leading to necrosis at the location of the bite.

Spiders are strictly carnivorous, and for the vast majority of them, their absolute favorite food is whatever insect is easiest to catch.

They are opportunistic hunters in the truest sense, as their diet depends heavily on what wanders into their web or across their path. With that in mind, some of their most common meals come from:

  • Flying Insects: Flies, mosquitoes, moths, gnats, and wasps.
  • Crawling Pests: Roaches, ants, crickets, beetles, and silverfish.
  • Other Spiders: Smaller or weaker spiders (arachnid cannibalism is very common).

They can be in moderation. Spiders are some of the most efficient pest control experts on the planet, and if you can tolerate them, they will reduce the overall number of other (potentially more harmful) pests in your house. While a spider might seem scarier than a cockroach, for example, cockroaches are actually much more dangerous because of their ability to spread bacteria and pathogens.

But it’s a careful balance. Too many spiders can certainly be stressful – and if you have a fear of spiders, the harms can outweigh the benefits.

Spiders are considered a secondary infestation. They’re unlikely to show up until there’s a primary infestation there first, which can act as their food source.

So it all depends on whether other pests come back. If you have a good pest prevention strategy, one-time treatments can keep you protected for a long time. But if your home has multiple vulnerabilities, pests will likely return soon – and so will the spiders.
